this week in pictures

No embroidery this week because I’ve had company and a pretty bananas week all around.

view of manhattan from brooklyn flea

I went to Brooklyn Flea over the weekend. This is the view of Manhattan from the Williamsburg waterfront, where they host the flea market.

adorable towel

While I was there I bought this adorable towel now hanging in my kitchen. Look at that fat little penguin!

family book club video chat

Then I video chatted with my family and we talked a bout Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, our Family Book Club! Our next book is Icy Sparks by Gwyn Hymen Rubio (Kindle version here). I’ll post our discussion soon!

mr fox book

I also started reading Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi for real life book club at Word bookstore, and that killed any chance of productivity I had for my unscheduled time. It’s so charming and I really like it so far.

sleep no more

Then I had company come in for the weekend. Here’s our remnants from Sleep No More. Sleep No More is a live performance/art installation that takes up five floors of an old warehouse in NYC. You walk around the set, which is huge, and actors perform a play across different rooms and floors of the “Hotel McKittrick.” No description I’ve heard does it justice–it’s crazier and bigger and more everything than what you expect. I highly recommend going if you get the chance.

yankees game

Then we went to brunch and a baseball game. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 5-4 while we enjoyed beer, onion rings, and gorgeous weather.

#fatcat

So it’s been a little busy around here. It’s been an absolute blast but I haven’t been able to catch my breath yet!

Usually each Sunday I post an embroidery from the project I am working on to sew some of my favorite quotes from books. Let me know if you have any quote suggestions! You can see the other quotes in my embroidery project here:
